In an earlier post, we shared techniques for becoming unstuck. The first technique was to make a “map” of yourself:
“By making (some kind) of map of all the things which light us up, and how they interact with each other, we can begin to build, appreciate, and invest in, our sense of self…”
Last week Rowan shared how this technique had helped her settle into a new studio space at The Ruskin. I thought it might be useful to unpick this idea a little further, and to think about why mapping ourselves might help us cultivate a sense of self, and to explore how we might “map” ourselves to move outwards in ways we might not expect.
I like using opposites as starting points to help me think around ideas, so let’s try that here. To help us uncover the value of mapping ourselves, let’s ask what would be the opposite of mapping ourself? Let’s think about unmapping ourselves…
