The Things We Hold In Our Hands - FAQ
Have a question? Answers here
Who is the project aimed at?
All individuals :) Please read the post here.
Is there a cost to take part in The Things We Hold In Our Hands?
No, at the moment there is no cost. You pay the cost to post the artwork to us, and we will carry the cost of posting your artwork to the recipient. Please note we will only send artworks to UK addresses for postage cost reasons. If the project proves very popular we may introduce a postage charge cost. You do not have to be a paid subscriber of The Everyday School of Art to take part.
What is the deadline?
Where do we send the artworks?
The address to send the artworks is on the submission form.
Where do I find the Submission Form?
Here
What kinds of artworks might I create and submit?
Please see the post here.
Do all artworks get forwarded to a recipient?
This is not a competition - and we hope to forward all artworks to recipients. Exceptions maybe if the artwork itself has deteriorated and we feel it is not suitable for posting, or if we feel the artwork might cause offence.
Can I remain anonymous?
Absolutely. When you complete the Submission Form you can choose to remain anonymous, or to give your full name and / or Instagram account. When we send on the artwork, and when we share any images on Substack or Instagram, we will honour the information you provide.
Can I Send More Than One Object?
At the moment we would ask that you only send one artwork/object. You will then receive an artwork as a gift in return.
Once that transaction is complete, we’d love to receive another object if you would like to send one.
Now I have made my object I can’t bear to part with it! Can I still take part?
You can! You can still send us a photo of your object, held in your hand. Pls complete the submission form and email us the form and the image.
Please note if you don’t send in an artwork, then you won’t receive an artwork in exchange.
Do I retain copyright of the artwork?
Yes the copyright of the artwork remains yours. By sending us the artwork you give us the right to forward the artwork to another participant, and to share its image on social media / Substack. The person receiving the artwork receives the artwork as a gift, and as such it is up to them to decide what they do with the artwork, including selling it, in which case, as artist, you will not receive a share in any monies received.
Will The Everyday School of Art receive any money from artworks?
No we will not receive any money from artworks. If a recipient decides to sell their artwork, The Everyday School of Art will not receive any revenue. The spirit and aim of the project is to enable making and sharing - the aim of the project is not to enable a commercial mechanism.
At a future point, if the project continues and the costs of posting artwork grows, then we may charge a small admin fee to future participants to cover costs.
reassuring- feeling excited to get started now.
